Project Indi
About Project Indi
Project Indi (Previously known as Helping Angels Charitable Association) was formed in 2019. The organisation aims to improve the standard of living for children and adults with disabilities and a range of complex needs in Stoke-On-Trent and across the county of Staffordshire.
The Kindi Project
The Kindi project aims to create an inclusive space for children and families to belong, increase skills, and provide new experiences. It seeks to strengthen relationships, improve community integration, promote social inclusion, and offer support and advice to families.
How Support from the Delamere Dairy Foundation Helped
The number of places available for SEND activities for children in Stoke-on-Trent has decreased over the last 3 years, despite an increasing need for services. There was a pressing need for SEND focused activities and solutions to support young people in our community.
The funds from the Delamere Dairy Foundation were used to launch ‘Kindi Club’, a specialised and inclusive afterschool club for young people aged 5 – 17 years with special educational needs or disabilities, providing a safe and fun environment where children can connect, grow, and thrive.
The sessions are delivered by our specialised children’s team and offer a wide range of activities, such as cooking, crafts, sports, dance, animal workshops, and more. We provide these sessions in creative and innovative formats by collaborating with sessional workers such as art therapists, sports providers, drama teachers, dance studios, as well as other local community groups and specialist activity providers.
What the Funding Achieved
The project launched in October 24 with two versions of the club available: Kindi Club Senior and Kindi Club Junior. The grant from Delamare Dairy funded the expenses for Kindi Club Junior, which took place fortnightly, accommodating up to 12 children.
In response to growing demand, the sessions became weekly in April 2025, and the capacity increased to welcome 20 children.
Some Testimonials
“My teenager loves going to Kindi Club every week; It’s something he looks forward to! Without Kindi Club, he wouldn’t have many opportunities to socialise. The staff are exceptional – very caring and supportive. I only have positive things to say about Project Indi. It’s a safe environment where my teen can be with others his age. We highly recommend this wonderful club!”
“Project Indi is absolutely wonderful! We have been involved for roughly the past 3 /4 years and everything that they do has been brilliant. For my SEND daughter it has provided her with several opportunities to access discos, play sessions and even day trips which she has thoroughly enjoyed. It has given her the precious opportunity to make new friends which she has loved doing.”
“As we are home schooling my daughter, we felt she needed social interaction with her peers. Since her first session my daughter talks so fondly about “Her” club. We have been delighted with her enthusiasm and increased confidence since attending. The staff are attentive, friendly and encouraging. We are so blessed to have found the Kindi Club – it has changed our life.”
