Families United Network
Families United Network was set up in 1997 to support families who have a child or young person with a disability, helping to reduce isolation, improve their quality of life and wellbeing.
The Bedfordshire-based charity offers a local support network group led by six Trustees many of whom have a child who has a disability. Through the charity the whole family are provided with the opportunity to attend a variety of local activities and trips.
The aim is to increase the health, wellbeing and social opportunities for members.
Families are united so that they find support in each other through shared experiences, strategies and the understanding of the impact that having a child with SEND can have in family life.
Families United Network offers a range of activity programmes designed to maximise fun and support families. By liaising with venues and service providers, the charity ensures they can meet the needs of the children.
Families United Network also offers family respite, animal therapy, sport and swim sessions, art therapy, and disabled clubs and skills workshops.
“We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Trustees of the Delamere Dairy Foundation for its generous contribution towards the cost of clubs and activities supporting disabled young people provided by Families United Network.
“The donation will greatly enhance our provision and we thank you for taking the time to consider us and for your support which is greatly appreciated.”
