Stockdales

Case Study: Stockdales
Stockdales is a well-established local charity supporting children, young people and adults with learning disabilities. We believe everyone deserves the same opportunities to live a full and meaningful life, regardless of the challenges they face.
Our person-centred approach means we take the time to understand each individual’s interests, aspirations and support needs, working alongside them and their families to help them achieve their goals.
We provide a wide range of services, including specialist residential care for adults with high support needs, and a variety of play, social, learning and life skills opportunities from our new Community Hub in Altrincham for children, teens and adults.
Stockdales has an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality, person-centred support.
Our residential and children’s services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Ofsted, and we are proud to be recognised for our high standards of care and commitment to improving the lives of people with learning disabilities.
How Support from the Delamere Dairy Foundation Helped
The Foundation’s generous grant of £3,000 funded two places for a full year at our Stockies Juniors Kids Club, giving two children with learning disabilities the opportunity to attend our weekly Saturday sessions in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
What the Funding Achieved
For the children, this funding has meant far more than simply attending the club. There are very few opportunities for children with learning disabilities to access inclusive activities at the weekend, meaning many miss out on the chance to socialise, make friends and enjoy the same experiences as their peers. Stockies provides a place where they can build friendships, develop confidence, improve their communication and social skills, and enjoy activities that promote independence, emotional regulation and physical development. Through regular attendance, they have become part of a community where they are accepted, understood and celebrated for who they are.
The impact has extended well beyond the children themselves. For their families, Stockies provides invaluable respite and peace of mind. Parents and carers have been able to rest, spend quality time with partners or siblings, attend appointments, or simply recharge, knowing their child is safe, happy and supported by experienced staff who understand their individual needs.
The Foundation’s support has helped create lasting benefits for both the children and their families. By funding these two places, you have reduced isolation, strengthened family wellbeing, and enabled children to experience the joy, confidence and sense of belonging that every child deserves. Your investment has made a meaningful and lasting difference to the lives of the families we support.
Some Testimonials
“As a family, we benefit greatly from James attending Stockies. For his Dad and I, it means we get some much-needed respite at the weekend. We know James is in a place that is well organised and safe, and he enjoys every minute of it. For James, it’s somewhere outside school where he can make friends, have fun, and be understood.” – James’ Parents
“Stockdales has made a difference because it provides Seth with consistency, connection, and joy. He has been attending Saturday Club for a number of years and absolutely loves it — it’s one of the highlights of his week. It gives him a chance to build friendships, gain independence, and feel part of something special. As parents, the support and reassurance this brings us is invaluable” – Seths’ Parents
